Our Early Childhood Extended Day Programs are designed to nourish each child and fit your schedule.
Families may select and commit to an enrollment schedule for a given term that reflects their needs. Tuition is based on the number of days enrolled per week and is additionally adjusted to reflect the family’s level of tuition and tuition assistance.
Nursery Extended Day Program
The Acorn Caps Program, available from 12–3, 5 or 5:45 pm daily, is designed for children who attend BWS nursery classes and who need additional care.
After having lunch with their lead teachers and cleaning up, the children are brought together into one of the nursery classrooms. The lead teachers lovingly transition the children to the Acorn Caps teachers who then prepare the children for rest through either music and/or story. After rest time, the children have quiet play in the classroom, a small simple snack, such as apple slices, then dismissal.
Kindergarten Extended Day Program
The Red Caps Program, available from 1 – 3, 5 or 5:45 pm, is the BWS afternoon program providing an age-appropriate rhythm and structure for Kindergarten children who need care after regular classes.
The afternoon rhythm provides time to wind down after a busy day in the classroom. Children have an opportunity for socialization and are able to make new friends from different classes and play in a smaller, more intimate group.
On any given day Red Caps children may experience either indoor or outdoor play, crafts, art projects and imaginative building. Children enjoy stories and class sharing during a snack together that brings the afternoon to a close for 3pm, 5pm or 5:45pm dismissal.
Extended day program costs correspond with the family tuition and assistance level for the current school year and thus will vary for each family depending on tuition level, program and the number of days the child is enrolled in the Extended Day program.
