Parent Education
Living in New York City, it can be difficult to feel a part of a larger community. For many of us, our children's school is the easiest way to make that connection.
Parents and caregivers of BWS students are part of a thriving, active adult network. Adults take advantage of ample opportunities for engagement with the larger community: They may gather weekly for a coffee hour after drop-off. They may take part in planning large assemblies such as the Lunar New Year celebration. They may play an essential role in school governance by joining organizational committees. They also may come together as spectators of student performances and athletic tournaments.
There are also opportunities for family members to continue their own education through talks and workshops hosted by the school. Past talks and workshops have included Waldorf curriculum, “Media and Technology at Home,” and “Risk and Play in Early Childhood.” Additionally, adult classes such as eurythmy, therapeutic storytelling, and anthroposophical health may be part of the learning experience and engagement.
