Families are expected to bear the primary responsibility for financing their children’s education, and BWS works with families who may need support with this.
Tuition assistance is available to qualifying families. Each application for tuition assistance is considered individually, recognizing that every family’s financial situation is defined by unique factors including income, possible assets (such as home equity, college funds, and investments), family size, and the number of children attending tuition-charging institutions. You can fill out a tuition assistance request here.
Tuition assistance levels and availability are adjusted annually based on the financial circumstances and demographics of the School. Requests for tuition assistance must be renewed by each family at annual enrollment and will be based on each family’s financial situation at the time of application. Tuition assistance may increase or decrease, depending on current circumstances.
Applying for Tuition Assistance
Brooklyn Waldorf welcomes all families and extends generous tuition assistance that demonstrates our commitment to creating an accessible and inclusive environment for our families.
Financial Aid Deadline
The Tuition Assistance deadline for prospective families is January 9th, 2026.
Complete Financial Aid Application via TADS
Complete the Financial Aid portion of the application and provide your complete income tax returns (including all schedules) for each of the most recent two years.
Meeting the deadline ensures that your application is included in our review.
*The Financial Application helps schools make informed decisions and requires both income and asset information.
This financial aid process applies only to new BWS applicants. Currently enrolled BWS families follow a separate process.
Decision Process
The School’s Tuition Assistance Committee reviews the applications, tax returns and any special circumstances in light of i) the current mix of families receiving tuition assistance and ii) the availability of financial assistance in a given year.
The Tuition Committee accepts tuition assistance requests for a percentage of our community at a rate that benefits the entire school community. We have extended tuition assistance to over 40% of our families.
The School relies on tuition to meet its operating costs and expenses, a large portion of which are teacher and staff salaries and benefits, and the Board of Trustees carefully balances financial and budgetary obligations and opportunities to ensure the financial health of the school.
Notification
Admissions notification letters contain tuition assistance notifications for those families who have requested tuition assistance.
Acceptance and Deposit
Admissions acceptance, tuition acceptance, and tuition deposits must be submitted before you complete the enrollment process for your child.
Sibling Discount
The School does not offer a sibling discount for families with more than one student in the school, but the number of siblings per family is taken into consideration by the Tuition Assistance Committee.
